Okay, I’m going to try something different today: since I’m on this wannabe vegan kick and I desperately need to get my derriere shape I’m going to try and review this vegan protein powder by bodylogix.
I went to GNC the other day with a goal in mind: I wanted soy protein powder. I used whey protein back in the day so I was hoping soy would be a decent enough substitute. A GNC staff member pointed out the soy protein, but also put me onto vegan protein. As GNC staff are known to do, he only focused on describing the most expensive one. I instead opted for bodylogix because it was made of mostly recyclable paper and plastic.
I’m judging a book by its cover, folks. Let’s hope it works out.
- Gluten free
- Soy and dairy free
- No artificial colors or flavors
- Sweetened with Stevia
So I got my mitts on the Dutch cocoa flavor because I’ve never had much luck enjoying vanilla protein. Also, I’m mixing this with unflavored almond milk.
Before I really dig into this, let me first say that this smells like vegetable protein. It’s not a bad scent, mind you. All I’m saying is you’ll know what you’re working with immediately.
And the taste?
Once again, you’ll know what you’re working with immediately. It’s not a bad taste; just not one that I’d actively seek out. It’s like chocolate with a hint of… plant. Actually, the more I drink it, the more off-putting it is. Chocolate and vegetables is a freaking no-no for my taste buds.
Though it’s slightly grainy, the powder mixes well enough. And then there’s… okay, no, I’m sorry. I just can’t get past the taste. It’s not even the taste; it’s the aftertaste. It sneaks up on me every time I think it might start tasking good.
I’d settle for “not weird.”
I has a sad right now because I was rooting for this one from my Canadian people up north.I’m going to stick with this as long as I can and hope I get used to this. I’ll report back in a month and let you know how it goes. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for other vegan protein powders or bodylogix products, let me know! I’m always up for suggestions!
Peace out, party people.
